Final Results

These results are final, as posted on Tuesday, January 6, 2004.  The following changes have been made over the first set of preliminary results posted on Sunday January 4, 2004 (some as the result of competitor queries):

  • The in time for Car 3 at CP A6 was recorded incorrectly, and the error has reduced their score by 31.4 points.  This resulted in a change in positions in the Intermediate class.
  • The in time for Car 8 at CP A6 was incorrect by 10 minutes, which changed their score at that control from 3.3 minutes early to 6.6 late.  This resulted in a change in positions in the Novice class.
  • The out time for Car 18 at CP A2 was incorrect.  Their score at this checkpoint changed from 12 minutes early to 2 minutes early.  This resulted in a change in positions in the Novice class.
  • Car 4 queried whether adjustments could be made to scores to allow for a slow moving local which held up a few competitors entering CP A4.  This situation is a force majeur situation - it is not possible to fairly adjust scores for the affected competitors, so the bad luck of the competitors being caught in this situation is still reflected in the scoring.  A similar type of situation would exist if some competitors were held up at a railroad crossing by a passing train.  Unfortunately for those affected, this inquiry is rejected. 

These results are posted at around 9:50 PM on Tuesday, January 6.  Because of the changes in positions in a couple of classes, the results were not made final until Wednesday, January 7, after 5:00 PM.
